ANACOCO, La. (KALB) - Some people say high school is easy. Pass your classes, try your best, and you will get good grades, but no one mentioned perfection.

“Academically, I have maintained a 4.0 over four years of high school,” Emily MacDonald, an Anacoco High School Senior, said.

MacDonald also scored a 30 on her ACT. Her academic achievements are astonishing, being that she competes in three different sports: basketball, cross country and track.

“Her work ethic is second to none,” Tim Parker, the Athletic Director at Anacoco High School, said. “I’m just extremely proud of her and what she [has] accomplished.”

MacDonald went into further detail about the challenges she faced as a student-athlete and how she overcame them.

“[Some nights we] get home late and [I’d] do [my] homework on the bus,” MacDonald said.

However, it’s that kind of dedication that helped McDonald receive all-state academic honors from the LHSAA.

“I’m just proud of what she’s become,” Parker said.

MacDonald will attend Louisiana Tech next fall on a full-ride scholarship.

“I love being in a small community,” MacDonald said. “But I’m ready to explore and be in a big community.”

MacDonald’s dream job is to become a physician assistant.

While MacDonald achieved some momentous milestones, she says she wants others to know that they can do it too.
